KIEMON
-the man who salvaged a Dutch sunken ship-

Nagasaki magistrate's office was at a loss. So, consequently it made an officer go to Murai-ya Kiemon and ask him to raise the ship.

In the following year, the Kansei era 11, on January 4, Kiemon was summoned to the office, and was allowed to raise it.

He started to work. At first, he put thick ropes on the sunken ship, and tied them tightly.

And then he borrowed six big ropes from the Dutch, wrapped them around several beams on the ship, and set up blocks to haul the ship up.

It was January then, a very cold time of year. Those who were working continued to do the fundamental construction, with everyone encouraging one another.

Kiemon thought this job might be the most important one in his life, and he did his best.
