KIEMON
-the man who salvaged a Dutch sunken ship-

Formulating the mechanism for raising the ship was his chance to show his skill.

At first, he prepared hundreds of trees as pillars, cryptomeria boards, long bamboos, ropes, and blocks.

He connected Seigyomaru (Kiemon's own ship) and Seikichimaru (his younger brother Kamejiro's ship) to the Eliza, and prepared 150 boats to encircle the sunken ship.

His ideas were as follows: he set up pillars on their boats and installed the blocks. Then he would pull on the ropes to make the ship float on the water.

Based on his ideas, finally it was time to salvage the Eliza.

On shore, officers and many crowds of spectators looked to see how they were going to raise the ship.

Kiemon was waiting for the next high tide.

Kiemon gave an order the instant the ship could easily float in the water.

Blocks began to turn at a terrific speed, and every thick rope was stretched.

The Eliza, which had sunk to the bottom of the sea, began to rise up to the surface of the sea with great ease.

At that exact moment, a strong wind blew from offshore.

So, all the sails of the boats were set together and the boats took the Eliza in tow to the beach in a straight line from the energy of the wind.
